Remember that perfect shade of brown lipstick from the 90′s? Well please don’t go looking for it. It should have been tossed years ago. Instead, head to your favorite makeup counter, or your favorite makeup artist (at Re, of course!) and reunite with your favorite brown hue.

You heard it hear first, folks! Brown makeup is back!

And while there are many reasons to love the 90′s including awesome music and awesomely bad movies, we’re thrilled to see this 90′s trend revitalize itself to make it current for 2014.  From teddy bears to cups of rich hot chocolate, brown is everything warm and cozy. It’s very neutral and just so very perfect for fall.

10 Ageless Beauties

Posted September 24, 2014 at 12:07 pm By Re Salon & Med Spa

“The beauty of a woman is not in a facial mole, but true beauty in a Woman is reflected in her soul. It is the caring that she lovingly gives, the passion that she knows.”
― Audrey Hepburn

Here are 10 women who have grown to be even more beautiful as they have grown more mature, as well as one of our favorite quotes by each woman. After all, these ageless beauties are more than just a pretty face. They may have gained our attention by their good looks, but their grace and intelligence is what makes them memorable.

When you feel a connection, a gut connection, a heart connection, it’s a very special thing. What’s familiar to everyone is watching people falling in love; it doesn’t happen on screen that often. People fall in lust, then they’re suddenly together.”

10 Outdated Beauty Tips

10 Outdated Beauty Tips

Maybe you heard it from your mother, a friend back in high school, or a magazine article back in the 80′s, but there are a lot of bad beauty tips floating around. These tips have been around for decades, and despite having been proven incorrect or actually harmful, people still live by them. Well, it’s time to stop.

Come into the 21st century with us and stop practicing these outdated beauty tips.

1. Shampoo your hair every day.

Shampooing your hair every single day can cause your hair to dry out and doesn’t allow your scalps natural oils to protect and nourish your hair. Instead, wash your hair every 2-3 days, using a great dry shampoo if you need it or find a a cute and easy up do. Dirty hair makes the best up dos.

2. Brush your hair 100 times a night.

You probably have seen starlets doing this in TV shows and movies from the 60′s and prior. However, over-brushing can cause your hair to break. Run a brush through your hair a few times and call it a day. No need to count!

And if you have curly hair, you shouldn’t brush your hair at all. Instead, use a wide tooth comb to gently detangle any hair while you’re in the shower.

3. Preparation H eliminates under-eye bags.

This secondary use for the hemorrhoid cream has never been proven to work. In fact, some people claim that using the cream under their eyes irritates their skin. The original formula for the cream included an ingredient  that could reduce puffiness, but that particular ingredient was removed in the 1970′s.

4. Women with curly hair shouldn’t wear bangs.

This is just simply not true, especially with the right cut from the right stylist. Curly haired gals can wear bangs and often find long layered bangs to suit their hair type best.

5. Match your eyebrows to your hair color.

Too much contrast can look unnatural, but typically, people look best with slightly darker eyebrows than their hair color.

6. Oil-free skincare products are best for those with oily skin.

Today’s revolutionary skincare products can moisturize even the oiliest of skin with oil without clogging pores. Don’t believe us? Check out Sonya Dakar’s line of facial oils for all skin types (which is sold at Re!)

7. Lining your bottom lashes will make your eyes look smaller.

Lining your bottom lashes can make your eyes really pop and whether or not you line them completely depends on the look you’re going for. Also, you needn’t feel constrained to black and brown liner. It’s very trendy now to wear a pop of color on your lower lashes. Play around with different looks for different occasions to find the looks that work best for you.

8. Stick to season appropriate colors for lips and nails.

When it comes to colors, there really are no rules nowadays. One of the biggest trends right now and for the past summer months are dark nails. Find colors that reflect your personal vibe and make you happy. Those are the colors that are “right” for you!

9. At X years old, you need to start using wrinkle cream.

Your skincare regimen should be all about prevention no matter what your age and treatment if you have observed signs of aging. Every woman’s skincare needs are different based on her skin type, exposure to the sun, and genetics.

10. Match foundation to the skin on your hand.

This is such a bad idea. Don’t believe us? Look in the mirror and hold your hand up to your face. Are they the exact same color? Probably not. It’s best to actually have a makeup artist help you choose a foundation color by applying a few similar shades to your jaw bone. This way you can compare the color to both your face and your neck.
